About the Show: Newsies Junior is a BRAND NEW adaptation of the popular musical. Theatreworks has been waiting several years for this version to come out. We are using this version because of its superior scripts and materials, additional roles for women, and more age appropriate vocal arrangements and dance breaks. This will be a FULLY STAGED MUSICAL.. nothing junior about the production values!

Other Changes to note: Pulitzer and his assistants (Bunsen, Sitz, Albert, Hannah) are non-singing roles. There are also many named girl newsies, and 3 back up singer/dancers for Medda (Ada, Olive, Ethel). The main newsies are Crutchie, Race, Muriel, Hazel and Specs. There are 39 speaking roles!

DISNEY’S NEWSIES JR. is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI. www.mtishows.com

Acting requires many layers of understanding who a character is and why they do what they do. Character development is an actor’s connection to the world of the play and to the other actors in a scene, a monologue, or a song. In this class, actors will learn the tools necessary to bring a character to life- lots of questions, creativity, objectives, subtext, improv games, given circumstances, and tactics will be just some of the methods we will explore to advance our skills and understanding of how to make a character your own.

Presentation: November 12
